Monday, May 29, 2006 Happy Memorial Day I think that Memorial Day is a rather somber holiday, and this yr is certainly no exception.. Hubby, BabyGirl & I have had an incredibly BUSY weekend thus far (Kommandos project, graduation parties, yardwork & gardening) and today will be busy visiting friends. But I will also take some time to reflect upon those who have served our nation (which includes many in my family), those who have lost their lives while serving our country, and this clusterfuck we call the Iraq War and what kinds of sacrifices have been made and have yet to be made for it. I know all of you have good hearts and will do the same. So, that said, let's reflect upon some harsh facts, shall we? (via Iraq Coalition Casualties): US Deaths Confirmed By The DoD in Iraq: 2464. Also at that link are some gruesome headlines that truly drive the somber point home with a very sharp stick: 1) Five US troops killed in Iraq, 2 missing. 2) Three severed heads hurled from car in Baquba. 3) An Iraqi groom celebrating on the dance floor was dragged off and later found beheaded in a field (along w/ his beheaded father, uncle, and cousin). What in God's name have we done? What horrors have we tossed on our own soldiers and the Iraqi people? I really do want to have a nice holiday w/ friends and family, but how can we truly enjoy this Memorial Day and not think of what kind of hell on earth has been unleashed in our names and on our taxpaying dime? I hope that Bush and his evil cabal of warmongers choke at their cookout today. They should be made to wash down their barbequed food w/a heaping glass of blood and a chaser of oil on the side. |
