Friday, November 03, 2006 Seafood faces collapse by the yr 2048 Now I'm not a huge seafood fan (although shrimp, lobster, and crab are pretty damn good), but if I want those menu items, I had better eat them up quick: If current trends of overfishing and pollution continue, the populations of just about all seafood face collapse by the yr 2048, a team of ecologists and economists warns in a report in the journal Science. Gee, instead of killing us thru global warming, maybe the food chain collapse will just do us all in, huh? Anyone else up for a night of seafood & alcohol gluttony before we're all wiped off the planet? |
