Thursday, November 02, 2006 Ex - Judges: Detainee Law Unconstitutional Hmm... I wonder when these judges will be smeared as crazy activists? (via NYTs): 7 retired fedrl judges have submitted a court filing urging the appeals crt to declare Bush's military commission law unconstitutional. 3 of the judges were appointed by GOP presidents. B/c there is no civilian judicial review of detainee imprisonment, the judges wrote: "We believe that compelling this crt to sanction executive detentions based on evidence that has been condemned in the American legal system since our nation's founding erodes the vital role of the judiciary in safeguarding the rule of law." Oh well... now that Habeas Corpus is dead, maybe Bush can just declare them all enemy combatants and cart 'em off to Gitmo. |
