Iraqi Constitution Deadline Today & Maybe Civil War

NY Times: "Iraqis Consider Bypassing Sunnis on Constitution." Oh that's great news... if you want civil war. The Major Issues in the Iraqi Constitution: 1) Role of Islam in the state 2) Rights of women 3) Distribution of power between central & regional govts 4) Sharing of oil revenues. Okay, so what are The Major Problems between Iraqi Groups?: 1) The Shias & the Kurds, who control the process, want federalism and most of the oil revenues. The Sunnis object. 2) The Sunnis (20% of pop) control very little except the insurgency, which is almost entirely Sunni led. 3) Saudi Arabia, which is not just Sunni but uber Sunni (the Wahhabis- think Bin Laden type of beliefs-, hate the Shiites), has been covertly backing the insurgency. Read Retired Col EW Chamberlain III's Chicago Tribune op/ed for Iraqi religious info. The Col reminds us: "People in Iraq and Iran are Shiite 1st, and Iraqis and Iranians 2nd." 4) So, the Shias & Kurds are now suggesting that, in order to meet Bush's artificial and imposed deadline, they will submit a constitution w/out Sunni participation. What could happen?: Full blown civil war. 1) Saudi Arabia openly moves to support their Sunni brothers. 2) Iran openly moves to support their Shia brothers (TIME reports Iran is currently targeting our soldiers now). 3) 3 way war between Iran, Saudi Arabia & their Iraqi brothers, w/138,000 US troops caught in the middle. 4) Q: What will Bush's rabid Christian base think of an Iraqi constitution that enshrines Islamic Sharia as the source of Iraqi law? A: Bush lead us into war to replace a secular dictator with an Islamic theocracy (a theocracy that will outlaw Christian missionaries preaching in Iraqi land) 5) Does anyone really think oil deliveries will continue undisrupted since these countries supply most of the oil to the world? Looks like it is high time we seriously looked into air powered cars (air car video here) uber electric hybrids or vegetable oil powered cars. Of course, none of these will make CheneyBurton a single cent :)
