Thursday, February 02, 2006 GAO Points Finger at Bush/Chertoff for Katrina Ooopsie! The preliminary General Accounting Office report is in on Katrina (PDF here) ...and it's not good for the administration (via AP): "The WH and Homeland Security chief Chertoff failed to provide decisive action when Katrina struck, congressional investigators said Weds in a stinging assessment of slow fedrl relief efforts. The WH had no clear chain of command in place, investigators w/ the Govt Accountability Office said, laying much of the blame on Bush for not designating a single official to coordinate fedrl decision-making for the Aug 29 storm." I notice not much was said about Katrina during the Scare the Union Address last night... hmm... maybe this is why? |
