Monday, May 15, 2006 Army worried about HBO documentary truths NYT: "Sr Army officials have scaled back their planned participation in an advance screening of a documentary about an Army Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad out of concern that its grim medical scenes could demoralize soldiers and their families and negatively affect public opinion about the war, Army officials said. The Army officials said that concerns about the documentary (which includes footage of an amputation and of wounded soldiers undergoing surgery and, in some cases, dying) were also raised by the wives of top Army officers who had seen the film. "Given the subject matter, it's not something you're going to cheer at the end," said one sr Army official." Ya know what? If you are so delusional that you cannot face the hardcore realities of a combat hospital, then you have absolutely no business sending people into combat or asking people to send their loved ones into that battle. When I hear War Fan wingnuts say "Don't like this war, liberal? Well, freedom ain't free" I have this to say: "Don't like people finding out how fucking horrible death, maiming and bloodshed really is? Then don't start wars." |
