Saturday, January 14, 2006 US Catholic Bishops: Transition Out of Iraq Please remember that Pope John Paul II repeatedly stated that this pre-emptive war in Iraq was not justified (a fact which was oh-so-conveniently never mentioned during the 2004 election-- unlike abortion and gay marriage). Now US Catholic Bishops are calling for a transition out of Iraq: "Our nation's military forces should remain in Iraq only as long as it takes for a responsible transition, leaving sooner than later," said Bishop Thomas Wenski of FL, speaking for the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. Now let's see. They will with hold communion from you if you don't toe their line about abortion and gay marriage, but if you thumb your nose at them by being a War Fan and booster of this war, well then it is absolutely no problem. Have I got that right? |
