TX & Maine Voted on Gay Marriage Issues

Oh what a shock! TX voted to ban gay marriage, and actually, they may have in fact voted to ban ALL marriages. It defines marriage as 'between a man and a woman' and then declares a ban on legal recognition of relationships like that. Doh! It's really poorly written...as if some Texan Republican idiot wrote it... cough, cough... but Maine voters have approved civil rights protections for gays and lesbians. Last yr, in Cincinatti (not exactly the most liberal place) a law barring civil rts laws for gays was repealed. This Maine vote is just the next step in that process. Gays don't have to live in liberal urban meccas to have victories. Hurray for Maine. There is still sanity in this country.
