Monday, May 08, 2006 Rove:Plame & Wilson had to be rebutted WaPost: "One former govt official said he testified that Rove talked w/ WH colleagues about the political importance of defending the pre-war intelligence and countering Plame's husband, former ambassador Joe Wilson's public accusation that Bush twisted intelligence about Iraq's efforts to obtain nuclear material from Africa. The official refused to be named out of fear of angering Fitzgerald and the WH." One former aide, said Rove was intimately involved in the WMD fight and discussed various components of the plan at sr staff meetings and one-on-one strategy conversations. The aide said Rove's message was: "If there are no WMDs and some blame us, it will not be a pleasant election yr.'' The aide said Rove talked a lot about Wilson that wk, but mostly about the fact he was a Democrat and needed to be rebutted." I think Rove just may be the means to an end b/c I think he may be a link in the food chain (via Reuters): Libby's lawyer to argue Bush's role in Plame leak. Hmm... I wonder if Rove will suddenly claim that he was under the influence of Ambien while leaking? |
