The MYTHICAL War on Christmas... does it include Bush's Secular Christmas Cards?

WashPost: Religious conservatives are miffed because they have been pressuring stores to advertise Christmas sales rather than "holiday specials" and urging schools to let students out for Christmas vacation rather than for "winter break." They celebrated when Dennis Hastert (R-IL) insisted that the sparkling spectacle on the Capitol lawn should be called the Capitol Christmas Tree, not a holiday spruce. Then along comes a generic season's greeting from the WH, paid for by the Repub Natl Comm. The cover art is also secular, if not humanist: It shows the presidential pets- 2 dogs and a cat -frolicking on a snowy WH lawn. Joseph Farah, editor of the conservative Web site WorldNetDaily.com said: "Bush claims to be a born-again, evangelical Christian. But he sure doesn't act like one. I threw out my WH card as soon as I got it." So, This month, as in every Dec since he took office, Bush sent out cards w/ a generic end of the yr message, wishing 1.4 million of his close friends and supporters a "happy holiday season." OMFG! Alert O'Reilly! Bush is destroying Baby Jesus' birthday! And what do some Religious Frighters say in defense of their beloved despot? Tim Wildmon, Tupelo pres of the Amer Family Assoc: "Sometimes it's hard to tell whether this is sinister, if it's the purging of Christ from Christmas, or whether it's just political correctness run amok. I think in the case of the WH, it's just political correctness." Hmm... isn't that exactly what retailers are doing? They simply recognize that many different religions exist and they do not want to offend their many customers of many different faiths who may or may not be celebrating a faith-based holiday at this time of yr? Well O'Reilly, ya had better add Bush to your enemies list lickety split or else you will be a big fat hypocrite... err... oops... too late.
