Wednesday, December 07, 2005 Sy Hersh in NewYorker: Where's War Headed? TheNewYorker: A former sr Bush official, who served in the1st term, spoke about the connection between the Prez’s religious faith and his view of the war in Iraq. After Sept 11th, he was told that Bush felt that "God put me here" to deal w/the war on terror. The Prez’s belief was fortified when Bush saw the '02 congressional GOP victory as a message from God that "he’s the man." (Hmm, daring to think that one can speak for God? Arrogance much?) The former official said that after the '04 election he made a lengthy inspection visit to Iraq and said: I said to the Pres: "We’re not winning the war." And he asked: "Are we losing?" I said: "Not yet." The Pres "appeared displeased" w/that answer. "I tried to tell him, and he couldn’t hear it." Imagine all that? Bush arrogantly boasts that God placed him in the WH... funny, I didn't know God sat on the Sup Crt and "selected" him over the actual winner Al Gore or worked for Diebold, did you? And then 2ndly, Bush refuses to hear FACTS and REALITY about his beloved war that has been turned into an absolute mismanaged & bungled clusterfuck of mammoth proportions. What's next? Bush is only a pretend Evangelical b/c he needs to conveniently appeal to the Religious Fright? Say it ain't so. |
