Friday, December 16, 2005 Bush Had Citizens Spied On W/out Warrants Sweet Jesus... we really do have to spit shine our jack boots and get ready for a goose-stepping party. NYTimes: Months after the 9/11 attacks, Bush secretly authorized the Natl Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others inside the US to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying, according to govt officials. Under a pres order signed in 2002, the intelligence agency has monitored the internatl telephone calls and internatl e-mail messages of 100s, perhaps 1000s, of people inside the US w/out warrants over the past 3 yrs in an effort to track possible "dirty numbers" linked to Al Qaeda, the officials said. The agency, they said, still seeks warrants to monitor entirely domestic communications. Yeh... sure... and I have a bridge to sell you, too. |
