Tuesday, December 13, 2005 Bush Booed in Philly & Scared of Lemonade When Bush's motorcade rolled into Philadelphia on Monday the Prez was greeted w/ a loud and sustained chorus of boos and whistles from the crowd of protesters that assembled outside the prez's hotel. Bush was in town to deliver a speech about his latest "version of facts" in Iraq. But things turned ugly when: "... about 12:30 pm, across the street from the hotel, there was a disturbance. A W. Philadelphia woman named Aisha El Mekki said police grabbed her 15 yr old grandson as he was walking down the sidewalk across from the hotel. They had come to protest the war, and he was carrying a clear glass of hot lemonade. His father and uncle protested, and she says police hit them with batons. 2 hrs later, she said one was in the police lock-up; the other had been hospitalized." Now, it was freezing outside, the minor was carrying a hot drink... so he had to be jumped by the police why exactly? The lemonade was obviously a threat to natl security. Imagine what would have happened if Bush had somehow been w/in 30 ft of hot lemonade! Later across town, PA Congressman John Murtha, the hawkish Dem and war veteran responded to the prez's latest Iraq assessment charging that the continued US presence in Iraq undermines any political progress: "The Iraqis are not against democracy!" Murtha said, "they are against our occupation." Well... yeah... just as we Americans would be if our nation had been invaded, if our nation was destroyed by incessant bombings, and if our people were being tortured and countless numbers had been killed (although Dumbya admits that at least 30K Iraqis have been killed AND he'd still do it all over again NO MATTER WHAT the cost in human life would be). |
