Friday, November 04, 2005 Indicted DeLay Aide Tells the Truth about GOP The NYTimes has a damning article on DeLay's shady request of Jack Abramoff to raise money for him via charities, and then there is this at Salon via DemocraticUnderground: "Wed's Senate hearings yielded more scandalous revelations about how the dynamic lobbying duo bilked Amer Indian tribes out of millions and used the money to win elections for their GOP clients. 1 memo highlighted during the Capitol Hill hearing shows that Scanlon, a former aide to DeLay sent the Coushatta Tribe of LA to describe his strategy for protecting the tribe's gambling business. In plain terms, Scanlon confessed the source code of recent GOP electoral victories: target religious conservatives, distract everyone else, and then railroad through complex initiatives: "The wackos get their info thru the Christian right, Christian radio, mail, the internet and telephone trees. Simply put, we want to bring out the wackos to vote against something and make sure the rest of the public lets the whole thing slip past them." Hmm, I wonder how the Religious Fright would feel about this info? I wonder how they'd feel about being called wackos and how they's feel about clearly being used to further an agenda? |
