Hadley: US Doesn't Torture... Oh Really??

SeattlePI: Natl Security Adviser Stephen Hadley said that Bush's directive banning the torture of terror suspects applies to all prisoners - even if held in a secret prison reportedly set up by the CIA. Hadley said: "Bush has been very clear that the US will not torture. The US will conduct its activities in compliance w/law and internatl obligations. The fact that they are secret, assuming there are such sites, does not mean "torture would be tolerated." The president has insisted that whether it is in the public or it is in the private, the same principles will apply and the same principles will be respected. And to the extent people do not meet up, measure up to those principles, there will be accountability and responsibility." Oh really? Tell that to Australian citizen David Hicks, who has been a Gitmo terror suspect since 01 and Hicks reportedly met bin Laden. Hicks says he was beaten, spat at, abused, assaulted, injected and then penetrated anally with various objects by Americans- which he recognized as being American b/c of their US accent.
