Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Wal-Mart Hired RedState.Org Blogger for PR Yes, Wal-Mart came thru for the hurricane victims when our govt could care less, but that is not the point, and we will get back to their gushing "philanthropy" later. The point is this: Wal-Mart hires a commonly known uber GOP/Neo-Con/ conservative blog site to do PR for them, b/c they believe, that RedState.org blogger Michael Krempasky is known "for his ability to connect with conservative audiences." PR giant Edelman admits freely that they hired RedState.org blogger Michael Krempasky "for his ability to connect with conservative audiences" for clients such as Wal-Mart, and Krempasky's hire demonstrates the firm's "leading role in trying to harness the power of the blogosphere for its clients." Krempasky, on his site, refers to the Edelman gig as his 'day job' versus his blogging hobby. His 1st mission is to play up Wal-Mart Stores' contribution to Hurricane Katrina. Let's review Wal-Mart's "philanthropy", shall we? 1) The world's largest retailer had over $282 billion in sales last yr. 2) They donated a total of $17 million for hurricane relief and are opening up "mini Wal-Marts" in effected areas to distribute food, diapers, clothing, water and other items to those in need. 3) Donating $17 million is 6 thousandths of 1 percent (.006) of their sales! 4) By comparison, if a person making $50,000 a yr gives the same percentage, that comes out to 3 bucks... uber philanthropy, indeed. |
