Tuesday, October 11, 2005 WTF? WTF? Bono & U2 Support Santorum... WTF? NewsMax: "On Sunday, Oct 16, a truly unique political event will take place. Teaming up w/ the legendary rock group U2 for a one-night only appearance will be Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA.). The $1000-a-seat concert has been put together by Sean and Ana Wolfington and will take place at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia in support of Santorum’s re-election. Santorum met Bono earlier this yr, having been introduced by John Kasich, the former Congressman from OH and host of Fox News Channel’s "Heartland." So what does the Irish rocker have in common with the conservative senator? As in the case of Santorum, Bono’s Catholic religious convictions inform his activities." I am so fucking sickened by this news. My 1st concert when I was barely a teenager took place when I saw U2's Joshua Tree show in Cleveland... to this day, the best U2 show I have ever seen. Fuck you Bono. I am Catholic too, but I sure as hell wouldn't support Opus Dei or the Inquisition... FUCK U2. Fuck you Bono... and I hope you slip on some santorum on stage and break your fucking leg... maybe it will knock some sense into your head. That said, I visited @U2.com, and their take on it is this: "You may have seen news articles online (like this one) suggesting that U2 is "teaming up" with Santorum for a fund-raising concert on Oct 16th in Philly. The political writers are missing out on one important point: There's no "teaming up" going on. That concert has been scheduled for months as part of the Vertigo Tour and is not suddenly a political fund raiser. That said, the senator is, in fact, using the concert as a fund raiser. It appears as if the senator's people have rented a skybox for the evening, and are selling space (i.e. - tickets) to watch the concert with the senator at $1000 per person." OK that may be the actual truth, and that makes me feel a bit better, but please explain to me why in the hell was Bono schmoozing w/these GOPers 1) here, 2) here, & 3) here? |
