Natl Grd:Having 1000s in Iraq Hurt Katrina Response

This from the Wash Post: "The deployment of 1000s of Natl Guard troops from MS and LA in Iraq when Hurricane Katrina struck hindered those states' initial storm response, military and civilian officials said Friday. Lt Gen Steven Blum, chief of the Natl Guard Bureau, said that "arguably" a day at most of response time was lost due to the absence of the MS Natl Guard's 155th Infantry Brigade and LA's 256th Infantry Brigade, each with 1000s of troops in Iraq. Blum said: "Had that brigade been at home and not in Iraq, their expertise and capabilities could have been brought to bear." Really? Does Bush & Co know that you said this Lt Gen? I'm sure they will be spinning this asap and painting you as some crazy member of that mythical liberal media.
