American Journalist Killed by Iraqi Police
I watched the Newshour w/Jim Lehrer Weds night and host Margaret Warner was asking journalist Edward Wong about the journalist Steven Vincent who was killed in Iraq (in addition to at least 20 Ohio soldiers in 2 days). Why am I telling you this? B/c Wong said that Vincent had been forced into an Iraqi police car by Iraqi police officers. Why is this so important? 1) Did our taxpayers' money pay for that police car and the wages of those Iraqi police who very possibily murdered this American journalist? and 2) Just this past Sunday in the NY Times, Vincent had an article published that was highly critical of US & Brit forces and said that Basra's police force had been infiltrated by members of Shiite political groups, including those loyal to radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr. He also accused the Brit military (which is responsible for the city's security) for ignoring abuses of power by Shiite extremists in Basra, especially towards Iraqi women. His critical article is published and then the US trained Iraqi police murder him... coincidence?... I think NOT.
