Friday, December 02, 2005 Abramoff about to Flip on GOPers? NYTimes: "Abramoff has told friends that he is running out of money, and participants in the case, who insisted on anonymity because the investigation is secret, said he could try to reach a deal in the next 6 wks. What began as an inquiry into Scanlon and Abramoff's lobbying has widened to a corruption investigation centering mainly on GOP lawmakers who came to power as part of the conservative revolution of the '90's. At least 6 members of Congress are in the scope of the inquiry, with an additional 12 or so former aides being examined to determine whether they gave Abramoff legislative help in exchange for campaign donations, lavish trips and gifts." Gee, isn't it amazing how an emptying bank account can make a desperate person do desperate things? Just like rats on a sinking ship or starving survivors from a plane wreck on a mountain. |
