NYC Terror Threat: How Convenient to Invoke 9/11

Here's what strikes me as oh-so-convenient: 1) Mayor Bloomberg- a GOPer who is not always drinking heartily from the Bush Kool-Aid fountain- is about to do a mayoral debate... but all of a sudden, after knowing about these "threats" for several days, Bloomberg has to rush off to do a press conference on these pressing scary threats. Keep in mind, Bloomberg has been getting hammered for a wk for not doing a debate at the Apollo theater in Harlem, but suddenly the Mayor announces this alert ONE HR before the start of the debate, due to "internet chatter." I think he held back this info or at least made a decision to release this info to lessen the debate issue AND to earn points w/Bush. 2) At the same time, Bush is trying desperately to use some 9/11 snake oil to breath life into his DOA approval numbers, and yammers on and on about how the war in Iraq is preventing them us from fighting the always elusive THEM in that country rather than here (oh yeah? then why did NYC raise her terrorism threats, genius?) and this mysterious top secret YET oh-so convenient terrorist threat comes from inside Iraq about NYC subway systems... coinky dink? Think not. Besides, we all remember how former head of Homeland Security Tom Ridge admitted that they raised the terror alerts on very flimsy evidence.
