Lawlessness/ Looting in NOLA Due to Desperation

Wash Post: As a public health catastrophe unfolded Weds in New Orleans, hospitals sank further into disaster, airlifting babies w/out their parents to other states, struggling w/more sick people appearing at their doors w/injuries & infections, people plucked from rooftops who are dehydrated, dialysis and cancer patients in need of their regular chemotherapy or radiation treatments. The 9 hospitals are battling floodwaters or using generators running low on fuel as dangerous, unsanitary conditions spread across the city, which now sits in a murky stew of germs. Imagine dealing w/this info from CNN: ambulance services & hospitals say they are being hindered in their efforts to evacuate patients from N.O. hospitals & care for patients in the hospitals due to the lawlessness in the city and appealed to Pres Bush to activate the military (hospital generators, meds, supplies stolen,ambulances turned over & med supply trucks carjacked.) Read what these 6 CNN journalists have to say about the unbelievable catostrophic & lawless conditions N.O. is under. I am NOT condoning illegal behaviors, but take this to heart: Put me in an attic w/the water rising --w/my kid in harms way-- and facing starvation/dehydration, and I would rob Jesus Christ Himself of anything He had and take the sandals off His feet b/c who would risk walking in that debris filled water, get a cut on your bare feet, and die from God knows what infection? Things get bad enough (especially when kids are involved) - people try to survive & civilization is just a few meals away from chaos. End of story.
