Monday, June 27, 2005 US Gen: Secret Air War Against Iraq in 2002 From The Sunday Times UK: The US general who commanded allied air forces during the Iraq war appears to have admitted in a briefing to US and Brit officers that coalition aircraft waged a secret air war against Iraq from the middle of 2002, nine months before the invasion began. The 9 months of allied raids “laid the foundations” for the allied victory by ensuring that allied forces did not have to start the war with a protracted bombardment of Iraqi positions. But if those raids exceeded the need to maintain security in the no-fly zones of southern and northern Iraq, then Bush & Blair acted illegally. Also from The Sunday Times is a look at the UK's own Deep Throat- reporter Michael Smith- who has been the man all leaks have been given to. |
